Building Confidence In Your Dog (Object/Noise Desensitizing)

  1. Object desensitizing

-start getting your dogs around objects, and noises as much as possible (flooding).
-Dogs, like humans, have an unrealistic fear of noise so during exposure praise and treat then they realize, this noise doesn’t hurt me AND I am being praised.

-don’t let run away or hide behind you
– if hear noise that uncomfortable to them never comfort them. It acts like a praise and gives them permission to be afraid.

-do not acknowledge him, do not look at him, touch him, pet him, or talk to him. —–    -Again, if he sees it does not get a response from you and you do not make a big deal out of it, he will not make a big deal out of it, either.
